Turkish Baklava Recipe
How to make Baklava Turkish recipe
Baklava is a delicious Turkish dessert made of layers of crispy phyllo pastry, chopped nuts, and syrup. Here is a recipe to make Baklava at home:
Ingredients:
1 package of phyllo pastry sheets (about 30 sheets)
1 cup of unsalted butter, melted
2 cups of chopped walnuts or pistachios
1 tsp of ground cinnamon
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of water
1/2 cup of honey
1 tbsp of lemon juice
Instructions:
1 .Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
2 .In a bowl, mix the chopped nuts and cinnamon.
3 .Brush a baking dish with melted butter.
4 .Take one sheet of phyllo pastry and place it in the dish. Brush the sheet with melted butter. Repeat this step with 10 more sheets, brushing each sheet with melted butter.
5 .Sprinkle half of the nut mixture on top of the phyllo pastry.
6 .Layer another 10 sheets of phyllo pastry, brushing each sheet with melted butter.
7 .Sprinkle the remaining nut mixture on top of the phyllo pastry.
8 .Layer the last 10 sheets of phyllo pastry on top, brushing each sheet with melted butter.
9 .Using a sharp knife, cut the baklava into diamond-shaped pieces.
10 .Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
11 .While the baklava is baking, prepare the syrup. In a saucepan, combine the sugar, water, honey, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
12 .Remove the baklava from the oven and pour the hot syrup over the top, making sure to cover all the pieces.
13 .Allow the baklava to cool completely before serving.
